Safety information:

Always attend the briefing before diving, covering site conditions, entry and exit procedures and emergency protocols.

Respect the buddy system at all times, staying close enough for visual contact and assistance if needed.

Respect depth limits according to your certification level and training.

Ascend slowly and perform a safety stop at 5 meters for 3 minutes on every dive.

Equipment and checks:

Check that your equipment is properly fitted and tested before entering the water.

Staff will help with checks, but divers are encouraged to perform their own buddy check before every dive.

Use a dive computer or a depth gauge and a timer to track your profile.

Environmental awareness:

Currents can range from mild to strong, listen carefully to instructions for drift dives and dives in channels.

Avoid touching corals or marine life, for your safety and to protect the reef.

Maintain neutral buoyancy to avoid any accidental contact with the bottom or reef structures.

Emergency preparedness:

Our boats are equipped with oxygen, first aid kits and communication systems for emergencies.

Instructors and guides are trained in rescue procedures and emergency response.

If you feel unwell or anxious, report it immediately and ascend with your buddy under supervision.

Certification requirements:

Some sites, such as Rasdhoo Hammerhead Point or deep channel dives, require Advanced Open Water certification or equivalent experience.

Beginners will be guided to calmer reefs and thilas suited to their level.

Other activities offered by the center:

Snorkeling excursions: guided outings to nearby reefs to observe turtles, reef fish and sometimes manta rays or whale sharks from the surface.

Sandbank visits: half-day excursions to swim, relax in the sun and enjoy the untouched beauty of the Maldives.

Island tours: educational walks and presentations about Ukulhas island, its people and culture.

Fishing trips: traditional Maldivian line fishing or sport fishing for those who want to try something different.

Beach relaxation: Ukulhas has one of the most beautiful bikini beaches in the Maldives, ideal for relaxing between dives.

Cultural experiences: opportunities to discover local cuisine, crafts and community life on the island.

Opening days and annual closing:
Open 365 days a year, weather permitting.

Here are a few practical points divers should know before coming to Reef Oceanic Adventures in Ukulhas, so they arrive well prepared and can fully enjoy their dives:

Travel and logistics:

Bring your certification card and logbook to confirm your level and experience.

If you have your own equipment, check it before your trip. We provide modern rental gear, but personal equipment should be serviced and ready.

Ukulhas is a local island, so modest clothing is expected in village areas. The bikini beach and the dive center are reserved for swimwear.

Health and safety:

Divers must be in good health and fit to dive. In case of a medical condition, present a medical certificate.

It is recommended to avoid flying for at least 18 to 24 hours after your last dive.

Travel insurance covering diving is strongly recommended.

Environmental awareness:

North Ari Atoll is rich in marine life; respect the reef by maintaining good buoyancy and avoiding contact with corals or animals.

Use reef-safe sunscreen to protect the fragile ecosystem.

Waste management is taken very seriously in Ukulhas; please dispose of your waste responsibly.

Practical tips:

Currents can vary, be ready for both calm reef dives and more demanding drift dives.

The water is warm year-round, but a light wetsuit or rash guard is recommended for comfort and protection.

Bring an underwater camera if you enjoy photography, as manta rays, whale sharks and colorful reefs are frequent highlights.

In summary, divers should arrive with their certification documents, a medical certificate if required, adopt reef-friendly habits and be ready to enjoy dives that are both calm and adventurous.

We have just had the most amazing diving trip with Dev. The dive centr and his team in Maldives were excellent trainers and made us first timers comfortable underwater immediately. Diving in the reef on the very first day of training just set the scene for what was to come. Interspersing the skills and dives ensured that we were always having fun while learning. The coral garden and manta point dives on our final day were just surreal. And, an even bigger thank you for arranging it all at short notice! Finally, loved your tees and rashies- gorgeous prints, excellent fit and quality, with perfect UV protection and quick dry. We used it every day of our trip and will continue to use on many more trips with you in the future!

Had an incredible experience with Reef Oceanic Adventures for our recent diving trip to the Maldives. We did several fun dives, and the entire process was seamless. Even though we reached out last minute, Dev and his team were super flexible and accommodating, and understood our requirement. If you’re looking for a hassle-free, professional diving experience, I highly recommend them!

I recently had the incredible opportunity to go scuba diving in the Andamans with Dev Saighal, and I couldn't have asked for a better guide. As someone who is water-phobic, I was quite nervous about the experience, but his patience, encouragement, and meticulous approach made all the difference. From the pre-dive training to the actual dive, he was thorough, ensuring that I felt safe and comfortable every step of the way. His technical skills are top-notch, and his ability to instill confidence in first-time divers is truly commendable. He took the time to explain everything in detail, making sure I understood the process and answered my 100s of questions, literally. For anyone looking to explore the ocean—whether a beginner or an experienced diver—I highly recommend Dev. His passion for diving, coupled with his expertise and reassuring nature, makes him the perfect guide. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

In our group we were diverse age profiles from 22 to 62 , and I was the oldest . Like they say it’s not easy to teach an old dog new tricks . But Dev orchestrated the entire diving coaching very well . He is strict but extremely patient , which helped me learn the safety skills and enjoy the dives with aplomb. Would highly recommend Dev for anyone wanting to learn Scuba at any age 🤗

We met Dev about 8 months ago. Since then we embarked on planning the PADI Open Water Scuba Diving certification in Mumbai and then Maldives. Dev has been meticulous in planning and executing the certification process. He is a tough master and wouldn’t let his students go scot free until they achieved perfection. At the same time he is a great motivational coach while being practical. Both confined water training and then open water training were rigorously managed and we realised its benefits when faced with some real life challenges under water. I thoroughly enjoyed this journey of getting certified under the guidance of Dev. I strongly recommend Reef Oceanic Adventures to anyone who wishes to get PADI Open Water Diving Certification.
