We are Voglia di Mare, a dive centre based on the island of Marettimo, in the Egadi Islands archipelago, off the west coast of Sicily.
Since 1998, we have shared our passion for the sea in one of the best-preserved marine environments of the Mediterranean.
Our approach is based on small, human-scale groups, a relaxed pace and a strong connection to the local area, allowing divers to discover Marettimo in an authentic and respectful way.
We welcome both beginners and certified divers, offering guided recreational dives, training courses and more advanced diving programmes.
Each outing is organised according to the level of the participants and the conditions of the day, with constant attention to safety, comfort and the pleasure of diving.
The seabeds around Marettimo are renowned for their excellent visibility, spectacular scenery and rich biodiversity.
Walls, caves, arches and blue-water dives make every immersion a unique experience.
Our team knows the island's sites perfectly and selects them carefully to meet the expectations of each dive group.
Beyond diving, we also organise complete diving stays in Marettimo, combining underwater activities, accommodation and discovery of island life, for an immersive and well-balanced experience.

Very nice guy, we spend a nice week, with delicious food. The team was very pleasant. Nitrox available, food onboard is ok and the boat is in good shape. Dive sites are nice to dive, the flats were ok (but air conditionning nor wifi). Breakfast at tramontana are delicious. we will be back !

The two of us booked a 5-day diving trip with Marcello on the recommendation of friends. Marcello did a fantastic job with our booking and essentially acted as our travel agent :). Ferry, taxi, accommodation โ everything was organized, and all we had to do was approve it. We stayed at the Marettimo Residence, a beautifully landscaped little holiday village with optional breakfast, a pool, and sunbathing areas, about a 5-minute walk from the dive center/dive boat. All apartments had sea views. Our diving days went like this: 9:30 a.m. meeting point, first dive, lunch โ antipasti and a different pasta dish each day. It was always perfectly al dente ;) โ then a short siesta with a chance to swim, second dive, return trip around 4 p.m. Marcello and the three dive guides knew the area extremely well, and we had very diverse trips. Beautiful rock formations, tunnels, grottos, soft corals, numerous different small fish, nudibranchs, huge groupers, barracudasโฆ WOW! The other guests were great. Mostly French with a great sense of humor ;) and Italians. Besides diving, you should also plan a day or two of hiking on the island; it's almost alpine. We traveled around October 3rd, just before the end of the season. It was perfect: not too hot, not too cold. No sunburn :D Good to know: - A 5mm wetsuit is recommended as a minimum. - Marettimo is supplied with water from the mainland, so none of the dive centers had a tub for rinsing dive gear. It didn't damage our gear, though. - Renting equipment was easy. We registered it beforehand (BCD/regulator for me), and it was in good condition. CONCLUSION: We're already booking again and are absolutely amazed at what a beautiful dive spot is just a 5-hour drive from Berlin. ๐ฅฐ Thanks to Macello and his team for the unforgettable memories. (Photos: reflect only part of the fascination, as we are not professionals.)

Super professional and knowledgeable diving center. Excellent guides, capable of leading more experienced divers but also very good with beginners trying this sport for the first time. The boat is spacious and comfortable, with the possibility of having all the necessary equipment always available, and a large sunbathing area. The diving center made our vacation even better by organizing everything, from accommodations to equipment transport and transfers. A fantastic experience for both divers and non-divers!

I recently met some of Marcello's clients and we talked about his business. So I decided to write a review about my experience in August 2023. Incredibly beautiful dives, comfortable and clean boat, BUT NO FRESH WATER ONBOARD to rinse off the salt, not even in port. The staff was helpful and ready to help everyone, both on the boat and underwater. From what I was told, they won't be available in the 2024 season, which is a real shame. The downside is the owner of the business: he's not at all friendly and unhelpful, but above all, I didn't like him as a guide. He was awkward when dressing (I saw him bang his regulator on the floor with the long hose, drag it around the boat, and get stuck in the ladder; he didn't seem like a professional). Underwater, he swims fast, doesn't maintain contact with the entire group (often large), and doesn't wait for you if you're not behind him. When we went to the cathedral, he had so many things dangling (regulator, flashlight, various lanyards, GoPro) and I honestly don't know how he managed not to get stuck between the columns. At the end of the dive, he leaves you on the chain to do decompression; he goes on the boat as soon as he can, waving goodbye. Honestly, this is not a guide. I discussed these hesitations with some regular customers I met on the boat, and they told me some truly terrible stories from the past (apparently he lost the boat a couple of times, getting stuck with his customers and NO ONE on board), and honestly, I don't have a hard time believing it. Having known Marcello for years, they were accustomed to these shortcomings and managed themselves during the dives. The rental equipment was worn and old: regulators with visibly cracked hoses and constant leaks; my BCD would sometimes self-inflate, and I had to ask one of the guys to replace it. The wetsuits were torn and old. Let's say that overall, if you are a fully experienced independent diver with all your own equipment, you can overlook Marcello Lorenzi's incompetence.
